The Embittered PoetThe embittered poet knows his flaws but,
Never doubts and never shows it,
Feelings vague and pointless as plague,
Society sings of such solidarity show,
Yet misery mutterings of musing flow.
The embittered poet ponders the meanings,
Always reflects those who would deflect,
Words worthless and vacillation so vague,
Communication crumbles against chaos,
As desperation drives daggers with pathos.
The embittered poet is valiant in scheme,
By cadences and dialects so near to claim,
Speech silent in spirits so still and sane,
Talk turns taciturn in towns so torn,
As wisdom wishes are withered worn.
In The Eyes Of A DreamerRusset leaves dance down from opal trees,
Pirouetting prettily in the midnight breeze.
Under this ancient bough I write,
Poems of exquisite bliss and beauty,
Painting scenes of romantic serenity.
Ochre sun bursts over vermilion fields,
Dazzling daintily those canopy like shields.
Below it's eternal radiance I muse,
Laments of direful amour and ambiguity,
Sketching tales of dramatic fluidity.
Cerulean waves linger along a saffron shore,
Lazing luxuriously in a celestial downpour.
Beside it's naïve essence I compose,
Idylls of rustic mirth and majesty,
Capturing dreams of artistic virtuosity.
It Isn't Wrong...I used your words to form an apology
Because I didn’t know another way
To make you acknowledge me
But I’m still here, you know
As much as I was a year ago
I’m going in blind and taking shots in the dark
But I’m pulling every word from the bottom of my heart
I’ve had a lot of time to see things straight
You’re someone that I love, that I could never hate
That’s why every time I tried forgetting about you
I couldn’t force myself to do what I had to do
Now I can see your pain, I’m sorry I put you through it
If there was one thing I could change
You know that I would undo it
I don’t want to live, I don’t want to breathe
The reason we’re like this is all because of me
I don’t want you to be yet another closing door
You think I could care less, darling, I couldn’t care more
Take away from this all the evidence you need
I miss you just as much as you say you miss me
I want this forced silence to come to
goddesssky mother, i buried myself once.
i was not a seedling, just a cutting, but in the arms of
father earth, not sure where to go,
i faced the sun. do you want to meet him again? you can't see him
today, but he left shards of himself in me,
my love, you would like him.
He is forever, like the ocean, but while it's gentle, and warm, and bright.
i once dropped a basket of wildflowers onto his heart and he planted them there.
(and i hope he isn't like the others, i hope he doesn't let them drown.)
because, sometimes, i wish i weren't as delicate as those
forget-me-nots i braid into
my hair, i love too much and need even more.
my lips still tingle with his laughter
wisdom, you were always a storyteller, so
why am i not the same, why are there
stars trapped in my ribcage and nebulae bursting in my heart,
how long will it take this constellation veined girl to find herself again?
You Think You're LuckyYou think you're lucky.
So happy to have me.
But I don't understand,
What it is you see.
You're so smart,
And funny and sweet.
Compliments and smiles
Every time we meet.
Don't you see I'm crazy.
Parts I can't control.
You'll never have my heart,
At least not in full.
I've already hurt you.
It won't be the last.
If I were you I'd leave.
Run away fast.
Why aren't you leaving?
I just don't get
That look in your eye.
Why you feel this way,
I don't understand.
But I'll make sure to keep it
Anyway I can.
Poison SkiesSkies light up the night with red and blue.
Tiles line the floor and table,
Spilling with liquid poison.
Pain seeps through our words and destroys us from the inside.
It slowly kills us,
But we keep going,
Because we are bored with living.
Marry Me?Is this love?
That flows through my chest.
Lifting my soul so clearly.
Taking me so high.
Let me love you.
Allow me to take your hand.
A kindle spirit
You give me no demands.
Wear this ring
That commends my love in your honor
I show you my heart
Giving you my soul
HAving me jitering thunder
Will you have me?
I must wonder.
Oh angel from another
So will you take me on?
Can I count on you to be along side sweet.
Will you be mine?
Will you marry me?
WHAT IS WAS NOTPeople are people,
And will always be people.
So why blame people,
For being people?
Truth is truth,
And will always be truth.
If truth becomes false,
Then it cannot be true.
A word is a word,
And will always be a word.
To edit the word,
It ceases to be that word
Wisdom is wisdom,
Because it is wise.
If wisdom becomes unwise,
Then the stupid are wise.
The absolute is absolute
And has always been absolute
If it can be questioned
It is not absolute.
Love is love
And will always be love
If it was but is not,
Then it was not.
Her Song. She holds on to your memory.
Keeps your picture near at all times.
Dark curls and green eyes.
Perfect white teeth.
A sharp chin.
When she sits down at the keyboard to play;
She'll hear the words in her ears:
The sound of love.
'I love it when you smile..'
Her fingertips grace the keys, black and white.
Turning pink and red.
'You ARE beautiful'.
The sound of countless sunsets fills the dusty room.
Your arm flits around her shoulders, it is but a memory.
Just a memory.
You are a ghost that listens to her talk to herself.
You are the air against her lips.
You're nothing but a memory.
The sound of picnics in the park graces your ears.
She never would have done this without him.
A helping voice in her ears;
'B flat. No, no baby, B flat.'
The sound of heartbreak fills the room.
She has to stop the song.
You won't come back.
She went, all dressed in black.
A single rose.
And a tissue under her nose
EmptyPush me, and I will walk away...
what is there for me in the game you play?!
It seems you do not love me anyway!
So, why do you say what you say?
What are your empty promises good for?
Why do you want to make my life sour?
Are your good feelings that much more
that you cannot let me breathe clear air?
Loyalty and gentleness is what I really seek.
I can return back the same and much more.
Giving you all my trust makes me weak,
who are you to think I am some kind of whore?
I am sitting here thinking simply why...
on the verge of breakdown, ready to cry.
Falling for somebody who can easily lie
makes the life so useless and wry.
A More Vulpine ExplanationHeartbreak is often lamented in cage-bird songs,
mockingbirds, nightingales, mourning doves—
soothing cries for loveless nests and hopeless romantics
waking up the morning after or stumbling into the lonely afternoon.
Little feathered hearts bring up memories tucked away in shoe boxes,
regrets heaped in laundry baskets or shoved under beds,
and catchy little tunes with forgettable lyrics to match the faces of
the ones who answered to “Baby.”
Consider, however, the vixen at four in the morning:
a more relatable beast, red and screaming passion over a mate
that could take her or leave her while everyone else is trying to sleep—
all this in the dead of winter when everyone has cold feet.
She, beautifully feral, won’t serenade mirrors or
empty wallpapered rooms, but instead curses
the wind and rye for the possibility of one more night
with him—that is, until the birds start singing again.
ViolinI remember the day
you told me violins
were strung with cat gut
and that is why
you hated music
(who says that to a child?)
I followed you
all that summer.
I watched you
grow away from mother -
your whiskey held better conversations
and all she did was cry.
We'd sit cross-legged on the porch
and count the horseflies
settling on our lunch.
You would drown tadpoles
in a bucket
surprised they could not swim
and I would dream
of cherry popsicles.
And when night would gather
on the sidewalk
I'd hold my breath
until a star appeared.
Don't bother making wishes
you'd tell me -
stars are dead weight in heaven
and God has cloth ears.
